LinkedIn adopts C2PA Content Credentials to make media origins and editing history available to viewers. Credentials can describe camera capture as well as AI creation or editing. The presence of the marker alone is not proof that an image was generated.

Inspect the source declaration in the file and keep the original records you need for your portfolio. Cleanup is a choice about the supported information attached to a shared copy, not a way to certify a photograph as authentic.

Headshots, team portraits and portfolio exports

Background replacement and generative retouching may write AI-related information into a real portrait. A design application can also add creator or software details when preparing a team announcement. Check the final export for the specific fields present.

When your work depends on provenance or attribution, keep the master file and its records. Removing metadata from a distribution copy does not change who owns the work or whether an edit should be disclosed to a client.
